What is Form I-539?

Form I-539 is a form issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. It is otherwise known as the Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status. This form is used by people currently in the United States in a non-immigrant status to change the classification for their status and/or extend their stay with their current status.

You will need your full legal name, which is composed of your family name or last name, your given name or first name, and then your middle name. You will also have to provide your Alien registration number (A-number) and your USCIS online account number if you have either.
