What is the Nebraska Vehicle Registration Form?

Form RV-707, Application for Certificate of Title, or the Nebraska Vehicle Registration Form is used by Nebraska residents to register vehicles and/or renew vehicle registration.

Newly purchased vehicles must be registered, and sales tax paid, within 30 days of the date of purchase. Unless a motor vehicle falls under the specific category of Vehicles Exempt From Registration, all motor vehicles and trailers operated on Nebraska’s highways and roads must be registered.

Vehicle registration in Nebraska can be done in person, by mail, or online.

To register a Nebraska vehicle in person, residents can visit the County Treasurer’s office and:

  • Present proof of car insurance (original documents only).
  • Show receipt of sales and excise tax payment.
  • Pay any applicable county tax fees if required.

Leased vehicles will also require a signed copy of the lease agreement during registration. When the registration process is complete, the county treasurer will issue the vehicle registration, new license plates, and stickers.

To register by mail, NE residents need to gather the following documents:

  • Proof of car insurance.
  • Receipt of sales and excise tax payment.
  • Any applicable county tax fees

Send the documents to the local County Treasurer’s office. When the process is complete, NE residents will receive their registration certificates, license plates, and stickers by mail.

To register online, residents can go to the official Nebraska DMV site. For more information, visit the Vehicle Registration page of the website.

In the United States, particularly in Nebraska, DMV registration usually takes 5-7 business days to process.
