Form 130-U of Department of Motor Vehicles is used by the State of Texas in order to apply for a vehicle title.
Form 130-U, Application for Texas Title and/or Registration, or the Texas Application for Title Form is a document used by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) that documents the title application information for motor vehicles and off-highway vehicles (OHVs). The application is also used by the County Tax Assessor-Collector (CTAC) and the Comptroller’s office to calculate the amount of motor vehicle tax due.
Form 130-U is required by the TxDMV in order for them to not only be able to register a vehicle as coming under the ownership of a person, but also to be able to assign the correct tax to that person and the person or entity that sold the vehicle to them. Because of this, both the seller and the purchaser or new owner should sign the form in the space provided at the bottom.
A person or dealership must fill out the TX Application for Title Form if they have sold a vehicle to another person. The form must be submitted by the buyer of the vehicle within 30 days of the vehicle being sold, otherwise, they may face some penalties.
The Texas Application for Title Form is a very simple, if long, form to fill out. To make sure that you enter the correct information, however, it may help to have documents regarding your personal information and details about your vehicle ready as you fill out the form.
